With an opera singer mom it's safe to say that Sylvia Bullett began her musical journey in the womb! Rich childhood experiences shaped her; like spending her 4th Summer in Tanglewood with mom singing with the Boston Symphony under direction of Eric Leinsdorf. She began composing as soon as she could sit at the piano--before her feet would reach the pedals.As a teenager she studied with Theodore Prostakoff, as a music major on scholarship at the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY she studied piano with Lee Shaw and electronic music with John Cage disciple MAN (Sr. Maryann Nelson). She has a bachelor of science in studio music. During her college years she began playing coffee houses in the tri-state area including Caffe Lena in Saratoga,NY and Gerde's Folk City. She moved to NYC and took her music in another direction forming "Sylvia Bullett and The NY Horn Authority" wowing audiences at venues like CBGB,Continental Divide,Limelight.Bitter End; opening for the Tom Tom Club and the B-52's. She moved to Woodstock,NY and collaborated with musicians there and did a plethora of recording in her home studio with John Yates. She organized a concert series in Woodstock for Live Peace International and organizes an annual event at the Rainbow Lodge in Mt. Tremper,NY for "Play Music On Your Porch Day"--the last Saturday of August each year. Proceeds go to FAMILY of Woodstock. She is a recording artist at Area 52 Studios working with owner,engineer and producer Dave Cook. She is also a published poet,ice sculptor,avid nature lover- naturalist,diver,gardener, and equestrian with a certification in equissage and therapeutic riding. She is an event planner and integral part of the Mothership Gallery--Paul McMahon's social sculpture which includes the Shivastan Poetry Ashram with copious events in the Shivastan Poetry Ashram garden with Shiv Mirabito/Shivastan Press. She is also a hound lover and adopts through Coonhound Rescue. And she loves trucks.
